This is one of my earliest designs and came together in the ’70s both in this format and also as a black and white version. I grew up in a Christian culture and it’s influence is apparent. The central lotus represents my movement into Eastern Philosophy and Mysticism. I appreciate that Western Culture also has a strong tradition of meditation and prayer and I visited many monasteries in my ’20s and ’30s. I have been greatly inspired by Rose Windows and other mandala designs associated with Christian buildings.
